Disclosure: This post and giveaway is sponsored by ShopSmart magazine. All opinions are my own.
Being a bargain shopper, I’m sure you’re not surprised to learn that I was once a ShopSmart magazine subscriber. When ShopSmart asked me to do a review, I remembered how perfect this magazine is for savvy consumers like myself – and how very much I had missed the insights, tips and tricks. I actually do feel smarter after reading it! 🙂
In ShopSmart, you’ll find the best products and services for home, yard, health, fitness, food, electronics, family, autos and more. Each issue includes ways to reduce your spending, get more for your money and be an educated shopper, for example:
- reducing your grocery bill
- discovering useful savvy apps and websites
- pointing out items and gadgets you don’t need to buy
- learning about top-rated appliances or items
- finding expert opinions
What I love about ShopSmart magazine
- NO ADVERTISING
From cover to cover, you won’t find a single ad – the magazine is only loaded with useful content. Like the parent company (Consumer Reports), ShopSmart values an unbiased review above all else. They spend millions each year buying products to test in one of their 50 labs! Because they don’t accept advertisements, you can trust that reviewers and experts are not being swayed by company dollars. - THE SHOPSMART MISSION
Their mission: to help you make the best choice every time. It’s much too hard to find the truth these days, so I appreciate even more that ShopSmart won’t sugarcoat a bad product. They even have symbols for “not so hot” and “do not buy” ratings so you won’t waste your time or money. - RELEVANT and USEFUL
I couldn’t find any fluff or filler in this magazine. Instead, you’ll learn how to be smart as well as savvy. Not every article is a product review, either. From “Drugs you should skip” (because of side effects and risk) to “What [clothing] labels don’t tell you” to secrets for cleaning up tough stains and messes, it’s impossible not to find something you can use. And there’s plenty of information on the latest and newest products and features out there – with advice on whether or not you should give them a try.
Honestly, I find ShopSmart to be a fun and quick read. The April 2014 edition is the “Top 10 List Issue,” and I enjoyed reading about healthy cooking must-haves and confirming that flushable wipes are actually not-so-flushable. And ShopSmart isn’t geared only to female readers – with home and yard, cars and tech sections, there’s information for guys, too.
