Sometimes, coupon terminology can be confusing – especially if you’ve never heard it before! These references may appear in posts or comments here, so here is a list of commonly used coupon terms and abbreviations:
$1.00/2 = used to abbreviate the face value of a coupon ($1.00) and the number of items you must purchase (2); $1.00 off 2 items
Blinkie = in-store SmartSource coupons, usually dispensed from a box with a blinking light
BOGO or B1G1 = Buy One, Get One Free
Catalina (or Cat) = Checkout Coupon (prints at the register)
DND = Do Not Double
ECB = Extra Care Bucks (CVS store rewards)
ETS = Excludes Trial Size; this wording on a coupon means that it may not be used to buy small trial or travel size products
Exp. = expiration date (when the coupon or offer expires)
GM = General Mills coupon insert
Insert = A coupon booklet found in the Sunday newspaper
MFG, MQ or Manu = manufacturer coupon
MIR = Mail-in Rebate
OYNO = on your next order
PG or P&G= Procter & Gamble coupon insert
Peelie = a coupon stuck to the product packaging (you peel it off)
Roll = Refers to when you earn a Catalina offer, then redeem it again on an identical order and get another Catalina offer coupon to print
RP = RedPlum coupon insert
RR = Register Rewards (Walgreens store rewards)
SS = SmartSource coupon insert
Tearpad = a pad of coupons or rebates available on a store display or shelf
WYB = When You Buy
