A special thanks to reader Rachel for sharing this recipe. My grandmother used to make this salad in a 9×13″ pan and I can vouch that it is addicting! Use orange and yellow gelatin flavors for a harvest-theme or red and green flavors to make it look festive for Christmas!
RAINBOW 12 Layer Jell-O Ring
6 boxes of Jell-O (lemon, lime, orange, strawberry, raspberry, and berry blue)
16 oz. plain yogurt OR sour cream
- Dissolve 1 box Jell-O with 1 cup boiling water. Pour 3/4 cup into a ring mold or bundt pan, then refrigerate to set, about 15 minutes.
- Mix the remaining 1/4 cup Jell-O with 3 Tablespoons of yogurt or sour cream. GENTLY pour on top of the previous layer.
- Chill until set and repeat. Repeat until all 6 flavors/layers are complete.
Notes from Rachel: Don’t rush it. It is beautiful when completed and a crowd favorite! I use this recipe every holiday for a DELICIOUS dessert…and it always seems to be on sale! The photo is my own but the recipe comes from an old Jell-O cookbook. SO YUMMY!
Remember that you’re not required to do 12 layers – the idea works for any amount (6 or 8 layers would taste good as well!). You’ll want to plan ahead and complete this dessert a day in advance.
