ABOUT STAMP OUT HUNGER
On Saturday, May 9th, letter carriers in more than 10,000 communities will collect food items and deliver them to local food banks to help some of the millions of Americans, including an estimated 13 million children, who face hunger every day.

Since 1993, families have donated more than a half-billion pounds of food to Stamp Out Hunger. You can help make this year our most successful ever.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  1. Place bags filled with nonperishable food items next to your mailbox.
    Donate items like canned meats and fish, canned soup, juice, pasta, vegetables, cereal and rice. Please do not include items that have expired or those in glass containers.

     

  2. Your letter carrier will pick them up and deliver them to local food banks!

A Full Cup, my absolute favorite coupon forum, had an extreme makeover today and has launched an all-new site! AFC has helped our family to save over $2,000 in 2009 alone!

How do you save money like that?

We get asked this question quite often when people learn how much money we save on our grocery bill (usually 50-75% off regular prices). For us, saving money is driven partially by necessity and partially as a strange hobby of sorts. It does take TIME, however. You’ll find that time and money are almost always a tradeoff, and it works that way with bargain-hunting, too.

Once you familiarize yourself with the terms, abbreviations and rules of the game, you’ll find it’s not difficult to reduce your spending.

If you don’t already get the Sunday paper, you’ll want to consider a subscription or make an effort to stop and purchase one or more every week. Even that is optional, however, as many coupons are now available in printable formats.

I’ll try to regularly post the best grocery deals for Macomb area stores. In addition, I’ll post freebies, drug store and online deals when they’re good. Please feel free to ask questions or chime in – I don’t have all the answers, but I’ll do my best to help!
