If you haven’t already ordered, you might be thinking about the best value for the money when it comes to Christmas cards. Adding postage already makes them a little expensive, so finding affordable Christmas card options is key!
For the sake of comparison, I used 100-card orders. Smaller amounts are available (but they made comparison difficult because some companies sell by groups of 25 and others by multiples of 20).
For each of these deals, you’ll need to purchase a Groupon voucher, then use that voucher like a coupon code on the merchant’s website after you’ve created a card and added it to your online cart.
Affordable Holiday Christmas Card Options
Here are a few recommended by myself and other readers:
Photo Affections
$42.46 for 100 cards shipped (including tax): single-sided photo cards on matte cardstock with rounded corners
$84.00 for 100 cards shipped (including tax): two-sided photo cards with printed back and return address printing on envelope included
I purchased the Photo Affections Groupon just last week (with an additional coupon code) and paid around $27 for the 100-card voucher.
There’s a nice variety of card designs and edges on Photo Affections, so it was a little hard to pick a favorite. Flexibility of design is good (able to move/change text, photos, resize, etc). I can be picky about alignment, ability to zoom, center photos, etc, so that all checked out.
There are no extras with this offer – you get a single-sided card in matte cardstock or photo finish; if you want a printed back or return address printing, it’s extra (around 20c per card for each). These are perks I prefer having – but skipped them this year to save on cost – they would have cost me an extra $41. I was able to order cards with rounded corners for no additional fee.
Shipping ($8.75) was additional, along with tax, after I redeemed my voucher code on the Photo Affections site. In the end, I paid $42.46 for 100 cards with blank envelopes for the Groupon, tax and shipping. They claim your cards will ship within 2-3 days of the order date. I ordered on November 16; they arrived on my doorstep on November 21!
Collage.com
$30.99 for 100 cards shipped: two-sided basic photo cards on 100-lb cardstock
$40.99 for 100 cards shipped: two-sided basic photo cards on 100-lb cardstock with rounded corners
The Collage.com Groupon voucher is priced at $19.99 for 100 cards – and at this time of year, you should also be able to find a coupon code (these usually hang out at the top of the Groupon site) for around 20% off. You’ll pay around $18 for the voucher, which is valid on two-sided flat cards.
In my opinion, the selection at Collage.com is limited (I didn’t see a lot of variety or find a design that I loved). If you can find a design you like on their site, it would be worth a look! I did have some difficulty moving text boxes around, so flexibility isn’t ideal, but better than many sites.
You can add a printed return address to the envelope for $0.05 per card ($5 for an 100 card order), which seems like a reasonable price. You may also upgrade to premium 130 lb luxe paper for $0.20 per card or rounded corners for $0.10 per card.
Redeem your Groupon voucher on the site by entering the code at checkout. Shipping is not included (it cost $12.99 for a 100 card order when I tested). Tax may also be additional. Most orders ship within 12 business days from the redemption date. The company is headquartered in Brighton, Michigan – so you are supporting a local business AND I’m hoping this means your cards would actually arrive in less than 12 business days.
Final date allowed for redemption to receive orders in time for Christmas is Dec 13-17.
Staples
$32.00 + tax for 100 cards with store pickup
two-sided basic flat cards with printed back
This offer uses a Staples Groupon voucher as well; for 100 cards, you’ll pay $40 before the coupon code discount ($32 after a 20% off code).
The Staples website seemed to be really slow to load for me, so picking out a design was a bit more challenging. The quality of printing may be also a little less, but they’re still decent for the price. The design seems to include two-sided cards with the ability to add text and photos to the back (something I appreciate)!
Each flat card or invitation is printed on standard matte, premium matte or gloss cardstock (additional fees apply), available with double-sided print, and includes matching envelopes. Additional fee applies for premium stock & foil upgrades.
Shipping is not included, but you can choose to pick them up at your nearest Staples location to avoid shipping fees. Same-day pickup available for select standard cards. Orders must be placed by 2 p.m.; orders placed after 2 p.m. will be ready next-day. Some readers have received their cards in as little as ONE DAY!
To receive cards by 12/24 delivery, cards must be ordered by December 10th. Same day cards are available until December 23rd (available when ordered by 2pm).
