ALDI announced a number of store safety updates today that are scheduled to take effect on April 9, 2020.
ALDI has been installing protective barriers at checkout and making gloves and masks available to associates who would like them. They have added social distancing signage across all stores and increased the frequency of cart cleaning. Some stores are not doing a cart switch at checkout to limit exposure to germs.
ALDI Store Safety Updates
- New Store Occupancy Limits
ALDI will limit the number of people inside our stores to approximately five customers per 1,000 square feet. Team members will be stationed outside each store to clean carts and keep track of customers entering and exiting. Lines will form, if needed, with customers at least six feet apart. Shoppers will be admitted into the store one at a time (and there may be a delay between customers to allow for space).
- Medical Professionals Enter First
Medical professionals (ID required) will be allowed immediate access to the front of any lines that may form outside the store.
- One Person Per Cart
Customers should limit their shopping to one person per family. ALDI does recognize that this may not be possible in all circumstances and is willing to make exceptions for any customer that needs to shop with children or assist a vulnerable shopper.
- Temporary One-Way Aisles
In-store signs will direct the flow of traffic in the store.
- Health Screenings for Employees
ALDI will begin taking the temperatures of store employees along with asking a few basic health screening questions before reporting to work.
