Have you had a chance to try Mueller’s new Pot-Sized Pasta? It’s been on sale at many area stores and we’ve even seen Mueller’s coupons that bring the price as low as $0.25 per 1-pound box! You’ll find angel hair, thin spaghetti, linguine and spaghetti in boxes half as long as usual – the perfect size to fit into your pot without breaking.
Last night, we enjoyed our favorite homemade spaghetti sauce with Mueller’s Pot-Sized Spaghetti and fresh breadsticks. I’m a pasta lover; it’s definitely comfort food. I appreciate not having to break dry spaghetti noodles to fit into my pot, sending little pieces flying everywhere – and it is a handy shortcut. Even more than that, I just like the size of the box. It fits easily in grocery bags and in my cupboard – unlike the long, rectangular boxes of spaghetti that are a little more awkward.
What do you think about new Mueller’s Pot-Sized Pasta?
Vote for My Kitchen Shortcut: Meals in Ice Cube Trays
In the kitchen, I like to think ahead when making meals. I’ll make a few batches of “taco rice” at a time – ground turkey, mixed with rice, tomato sauce and taco seasoning – to freeze for future menus. But I also like to freeze some of the taco meat in ice cube trays. After it’s solid, I pop out the meat cubes and place them in a freezer bag. A few cubes are easily warmed in the microwave for a quick lunch, meal or snack: in a tortilla, on a salad, on top of tortilla chips for nachos.
My husband loves pulled pork sandwiches, but I don’t make them often. After making pulled pork in the crockpot, I freeze the sauced meat in ice cube trays for him. He can warm up a few cubes for a nice, hot sandwich whenever he likes.
Think about freezing small servings of these meals in ice cube trays:
- Italian beef or pulled pork
- sloppy joes
- spaghetti sauce
- meat for sliders
- taco meat
