STAMP OUT HUNGER IS this week! It’s a great time to look through your pantry and stockpile for donation items!
This is the 21st year that the National Association of Letter Carriers has organized the Stamp out Hunger Food Drive. The Stamp Out Hunger drive is a great opportunity to look through your pantry – and this week’s store matchups – to find great items for donation!
I’d love to encourage you to give back to your community through a non-perishable food donation (even small donations count!). If you’re a coupon-user, you can do this easily without spending a lot of money. And it’s not every day you can donate simply by leaving items at your mailbox!
Here’s how you can help:
- Gather FOOD items like canned meats, fish, soup, bottled juice, vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, cereal and rice that do not require refrigeration. Please do not include items that have expired or are in glass containers.
- Put them in a bag (or two or three) and have them ready at your mailbox (before your normal mail delivery time) this Saturday, May 11.
It doesn’t get much easier to donate than this – you’ve only got to get those items next to your mailbox! (Note that usually a separate truck picks up the donations, since they won’t fit in your mailperson’s truck.)
Will you be participating in Stamp Out Hunger this year? What will you be donating?

This day is one of my favorites for the year. I go through my pantry and pull out my donation overstock (gleaned through coupons) and the items I haven’t used as expected plus a few bonuses of great stuff thrown in. I get o pack it up and walk it to my mailbox. Done! I love it! LIke Jolyn said, donating doesn’t get much easier than this!

I just filled my bag and sat out by mail box……..Each and every time I donate it makes me feel good to know I’m helping others less fortune than I am. That feeling never goes away.
Jolyn if you get a chance this morning could you please just post a reminder for everyone who can to donate. I read in the paper a few weeks back that the supply of food for donation for the less fortune people has bare shelves. This just makes me very sad to hear this. We can’t let our people go hungry. Lets all come together and help!
