VG’s SHOPPING TIPS

VG’s offers a $0.05 reusable bag credit per bag you bring. You may have to remind your cashier, however, as the credit is not automatic.

You’ll find printable Spartan coupons at the Turn to Spartan website. You’ll need to register first. Coupons are limited to 1 per family and will NOT double, but they could stretch your savings even further.

Save your receipts – as part of VG’s Community Share Program, they can benefit non-profit groups in Michigan. You don’t need to sign up; simply find a group collecting receipts and turn yours in to them. Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica (45160 Van Dyke at Hall Rd) collects VG’s receipts to purchase socks for the homeless. You can leave your receipts at the front desk there if you can’t find another participating group.

Visit the Meat Department and hunt for the yellow rectangular markdown tags. VG’s routinely offers 50% off soon-to-expire meat; most packages are good cuts of meat with no sign of aging and won’t expire for 2 more days, which allows plenty of time for cooking or freezing.

Shopping with Kids? Stop by the customer service desk and sign them up for the Zoo Crew Kids’ Club. They’ll receive special treats, including a cookie from the bakery when they visit!

Does the Sterling Hts store take internet printed coupons?

    • Chris says

      January 23, 2011 at 4:00 PM

They’ve taken them for me before without a hassle.

  2. Stacey says

    January 23, 2011 at 3:13 PM

I’m not sure what other varieties are included, but I asked my husband to check the Multigrain Cheerios when he grabbed a paper today, and they are NOT included in the sale.

  3. Shane says

    January 23, 2011 at 3:26 PM

Does any one no what happened to the reach floss in the Waterford Store? They seem to not sell the one for free anymore. Any other issues?

  4. R. Mac says

    January 23, 2011 at 8:00 PM

Has anyone checked to see if the v-fusion tea is included in the sale?

    • Kristy says

      January 25, 2011 at 7:40 PM

      Yes in the fenton store.

  5. kathy says

At Christmas, there was a mail in rebate for turkey, If you bought a Butterball turkey and mailed in the receipt, you would get (5) $1/1 coupons. If you happen to get them you can get 5 packages of Butterball ground turkey FREE! Hope you got them, I did!

  6. Jason says

    January 24, 2011 at 9:22 AM

I noticed the cereal coupon takes you to Target coupons, I’m assuming they are not good at anywhere but Target correct?

    • Jolyn says

      January 24, 2011 at 10:04 AM

No, actually the cereal coupons listed are manufacturer coupons on the Target site (without a Target logo) that can be used at any store. They also aren’t marked “do not double,” so they’re great to use at VG’s.

      • Jason says

        January 24, 2011 at 2:35 PM

        Thank you vm

  7. sue says

Butterball ground turkey is 2 packages for $4. If you did the butterball turkey rebate during the holidays you should have received. 5 – $1 coupons off any butterball product. Marked do not double but still ground turkey for $1

  8. Cindy says

    January 24, 2011 at 12:31 PM

I have a question (I’m kind of a newbie at this) about the Kikkoman soy sauce. There was a coupon in Sunday’s paper that says “save 55 cents on any carton of eggs with purchase of 1 Kikkoman product. Can I use the $1.00 printable listed above to get the soy sauce free, and then use this egg coupon to get 55 cents off the eggs, or even possibly doubled to $1.10? These kinds of coupons confuse me. Thanks for your help!

    • Jolyn says

      January 24, 2011 at 1:19 PM

You may use ONE manufacturer coupon per item. Since both coupons require the purchase of Kikkoman, you’ll have to choose one or the other, not both.

      • Kristen says

        January 24, 2011 at 8:55 PM

I totally understand what you are saying about using the two coupons, but the way that it’s worded really makes me wonder if you can use both. I read it as 55 cents off eggs if you bought the Kikkoman…it makes me feel that the cents off applies to the eggs only…however, I’m not sure that I’m going to try it!

    • Cindy says

      January 24, 2011 at 1:19 PM

Never mind, I found your answer in the Meijer section. Thanks!

  9. Marnie says

    January 24, 2011 at 1:10 PM

My VG’s carries Kikkoman’s Sweet and Sour sauce for $1.99, so it was free as well as the soy sauce.

    • Angie says

      January 26, 2011 at 8:46 AM

Thanks for this tip Marnie, I got the sweet and sour. It’s nice to dip eggrolls in it. I have 5 bottles of soy sauce!

  10. Colleen says

    January 24, 2011 at 1:50 PM

Thanks for the great matchups! On the cereals- original cheerios, trix, kix, cocoa puffs, and golden grahams were marked at sterling heights location. Select blue diamond nuts were 1/2 off, and the welch’s carton refrigerated juice is $2.49 – $.75 coupon doubled (sorry not sure from when), so $1.00. 🙂

    • Stacey says

      January 24, 2011 at 8:59 PM

Also on sale at the Shelby store were Fruity Cheerios and Wheaties. The cereal aisle was pretty bare, but there was a large pallet of the sale cereal in the deli area!

  11. Michelle says

    January 24, 2011 at 5:39 PM

I found a great deal on Nature Valley Granola Nut Clusters today at my VG’s (Pontiac). Regular price = 3.99. They are on clearance for 50% off (1.99). There is a coupon for 75 cents off of 2 that doubles to 1.50 off of two.
This makes them $1.50 for 2 or 75 cents each!

  12. kay says

    January 24, 2011 at 8:00 PM

the general mills cereal for 1.49 also includes Wheaties and the combo cocoa puffs

The sale price on Ortega taco seasoning is $0.74 (regular price is $0.99).

Also — Halls cough drops are $1.49-$1.99 (regular price). Use the $1/1 here to get them free: http://tinyurl.com/49vslpa

    • jj says

The halls cough drops link is for a $0.35 coupon, not $1.00

Smart balance foods on sale, with coupons that double got really great deals…smart balance butter, smart balance peanut butter, non stick spray, canola oil. Also on sale orville popcorn $1 after coupon. Dannon lt. yogurt on sale .50 a piece buy 10 use $1 off coupon making it $3 for 10.

Found Palmolive Ultra dish soap on sale for $1.69 a bottle and all the bottles had $1.00 coupon at the VGs in Pontiac. It makes it free!

They have a special promotion on Pillsbury Pie Crust for $1 a box. There is a coupon for $.50 off two (I forgot which insert) so you can get pie crust for $.50 a box.

Finally, Hillshire Lunch meat is on sale for $3 a container. There is a $1 coupon from the Hillshire website making it $1 per container.

I just found out that to get the catalina on Prego and V8, your total has to be at least $15 AFTER your coupons.

    • Jolyn says

      January 25, 2011 at 1:54 PM

Curious how you found that out. Catalina calculates totals before coupons, so there’s no reason it shouldn’t work. Sometimes well-intentioned employees claim otherwise, but it’s not true. Call Catalina at 1-888-8COUPON to learn the truth.

    • Leslie K. says

      January 25, 2011 at 2:42 PM

Same thing for me this morning in Shelby. I was planning to do two orders, but then had to partially combine them into one order so that I’d be over $15 after coupons. I took the cashier’s word for it, and felt put on the spot to rework my order quickly because there was another person already waiting behind me.

    • Kristy says

      January 25, 2011 at 7:51 PM

Fenton VG’s worker told me the reason this did not print was because V-8 is not included in the Catalina deal even though they have a picture of it in the add. She gave me 5$ at the coustmer serv desk.

      • Jamie says

        January 26, 2011 at 9:24 AM

I did my first order like the Prego one stated above. Instead of a CAT, I had something print out that told me about the CAT. I went straight to customer service and they told me that their system is set up to calculate CAT’s after coupons. I asked to return everything and re-purchase with a larger total, but since I was at a u-scan they couldn’t give me back my coupons. The Manager told her to just give me $5 back. Then, I went back and grabbed 2 V-Fusion juices to make my total higher. That time, the CAT printed.

        • Shaunna says

          January 26, 2011 at 2:54 PM

I did the 6 Prego/2 V8 and got the $5 cat at the VGS in Brighton

    • Stacey says

      January 28, 2011 at 10:05 PM

Be careful…. the Heluva insert coupon says “do not double” in small print (not near the date; it’s at the end of the fine print). The Shelby store cashiers actually pointed it out to me; I missed it!

the b1g1 free blueberries is at the front page of the ad, isn’t it? anyway, the ad said valid at Burton, Clio, Davison, Genesee, Marine City, Owosso, Shelby, and West Flint.

Thanks for the info. I will have to be more careful. I didn’t realize that different ads were published for different areas – just used the deals listed on b2b. Yikes, $8.00 for two containers of blueberries! I’ve learned my lesson.
