VG’s SHOPPING TIPS
VG’s offers a $0.05 reusable bag credit per bag you bring. You may have to remind your cashier, however, as the credit is not automatic.
You’ll find printable Spartan coupons at the Turn to Spartan website. You’ll need to register first. Coupons are limited to 1 per family and will NOT double, but they could stretch your savings even further.
Save your receipts – as part of VG’s Community Share Program, they can benefit non-profit groups in Michigan. You don’t need to sign up; simply find a group collecting receipts and turn yours in to them. Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica (45160 Van Dyke at Hall Rd) collects VG’s receipts to purchase socks for the homeless. You can leave your receipts at the front desk there if you can’t find another participating group.
Visit the Meat Department and hunt for the yellow rectangular markdown tags. VG’s routinely offers 50% off soon-to-expire meat; most packages are good cuts of meat with no sign of aging and won’t expire for 2 more days, which allows plenty of time for cooking or freezing.
Shopping with Kids? Stop by the customer service desk and sign them up for the Zoo Crew Kids’ Club. They’ll receive special treats, including a cookie from the bakery when they visit!

Does anyone know hom much Vg’s Country Fresh milk is not on sale?
DV says
I think it’s in the area of $2.29 or so. I am headed there shortly and will be buying some. I’ll report back!
DV says
In the West Flint store (Corunna Rd) the price of milk was $3.69. The Spartan milk was $2.29 this week.
Sarah says
$1.69 after -$1/1 Country Fresh coupon in SS or RP weekend insert!
kathy says
it was $3.69 in Brighton ๐
Cathy says
It’s $3.69 at the Marine City one also.
Dee C says
Was the Propel water on sale last week? The Brighton store wouldn’t give me a rain check because they said it was a temporary price reduction!
Natalie says
Yes, VG’s price reduced it to 10/$10 until 2/27. I got the raincheck but then realized it was worthless since it’ll be the same price until 2/27
Julie says
Is it just certain stores that have the Propel for 10/$10? I go to the Davison store. I haven’t checked it yet, but I’ve been wanting to use my Propel coupons . . .
DV says
Blistex is on sale for .99. There is a coupon out for .35/1. The sale ends 02/27. After coupon it’s .29.
Jolyn says
Thanks!
mary says
$1/2 coup would be free. It is the stick kind, not tube.
kay says
smart source.com has a coupon for .55/any 2 dozen eggs…making the eggs .45 this week!
Tabitha says
That Palmolive coupon expired yesterday and the sale started today? Why is that on the coupon matchups? Do they still take the coupon?
Jolyn says
It was just my error. My apologies – you’ll notice I make quite a few mistakes. ๐
Tabitha says
Wow, I didnt realize the only Progresso soup on sale was the Veg. I just came home with a bunch of soup that rang up at $2.59
Jenn says
FYI the Brighton VG’s does not have the meal deal, (the chuck roast with all the fixings for free) I was told only the Howell Store will have that. I tried this one time before and it was a great deal and made for a perfect meal on a cold night!! Bummed it wasnt at that store.
kathy says
The Brighton ad seems to be different than the other stores since they’ve remodeled it
Nora C says
I found a couple of good deals that aren’t mentioned above at the Sterling Heights store today:
Florida’s Natural OJ (Original flavor only) was 2/$6. I had $1/1 coupons from the smiley campaign that I used to make it $1/carton.
Simply Lemonade with Raspberry was marked 2/$5. If you still have the $1/1 printables that were available a week or so ago that makes it $.50. I can’t rememer where the printable came from, but it was a bricks coupon.
The Sterling Heights store had 2lb bags of Earthbound Farms Organic Baby carrots marked down to $1.59. If you go to thier website they will send you coupons for taking quizzes and playing games (which probably doesn’t help much for this, but might for the future). I happened to have a $1/2 coupon from them with me. It said DND in the fine print, but it doubled anyway giving me 4lbs of baby carrots for $1.18. There were still several bags there when I left, but I’m assuming they won’t last long.
Kathleen says
I found a coupon for kings Hawaiian rolls.
Price this week 4ct $1 each
Coupon is for $1 off of 2
This makes item free after doubling
It is from a red plum not sure the date
Jolyn says
The 4 ct is excluded on the coupon. ๐
Kathleen says
Does anyone have tips for cooking the roast meal deal.
Jolyn says
The crockpot is the easiest! Wash your potatoes (cut/peel if you like), peel/chop some carrots and a little onion and put it on the bottom of your crockpot. Add roast on top, season as desired and cook on low all day. Easy and very good!
Denise says
$1.00 off fresh beef coupon when you buy Uncle Ben’s rice (2-23 RP).
I bought a 14 oz. box (reg. price $2.35).
Rice for .35 if your doing the roast deal (or buying any beef).
Angela says
With the beef roast deal-how much does an average roast cost?
Stacey says
In Shelby Twp, the roasts are $4.89/lb, and you need to purchase a 3.5lb or larger roast to get the meal deal.
Linda says
I could only find a $.50 off three Totino’s pizza in the 2-13 GM coupons and you said it was $1.00 off 5. Did anyone else run across this? Just curious. I looked all through the 2-13 GM coupons and only came up with the $.50 off/3!!! Hey, I just found one amongst all my old coupons and it was an internet coupon that was $1.00/five but it expires 2-22-11 so I’ll have to use it tomorrow! That’s okay though because I’ll be shopping at the Marine City store Tuesday for the Senior discount!!
kim says
The Spartan coupons did double for me and I was able to print Several! When the printer comes up on the screen I change the number of copies to the desired amount, I know that it works since I used them both in the same transaction! Happy shopping!
Jolyn says
I looked at the Spartan coupons – since the bar codes all start with 9, the computer would stop them from doubling the value. Are you sure?
You can print as many as you’d like, though.
mary says
Marine city
they had the beef deal, but packages were priced between $17 and $20.
No cream cheese left nor butter.
Deanna says
Cinnamon cheerios not included in the general mills cereal sale price ๐ I really like those.
planejane says
Matchup shows pringles super stack cans $1.25 they are actually on sale for $1.45…Just a correction.
JERRY says
Went to the owosso store today, they now have the attendent scan all coupons at the self scan lanes. She said someone posted on a website that the self scanners would double all coupons even “do not” ones.
Jolyn says
Not I! Although I suppose someone may have put that in the comments…
Cathy says
Maybe we should be more careful on what we comment.
natalie says
When I went through the self scan the other day, the computer would not let me scan my own coupons. The computer/register says, that the attendant is coming. The self checkout attendant told me that we are not allowed to scan our own coupons now. When I asked why, She said its because there is alot of coupon fraud. That people are using expired coupons, tearing off parts of the coupons and stuff like that. I didn’t understand why people would tear off parts of the coupon or that the computer would even accept expired ones. So I guess checkout will just take alittle longer now.
Chrissie says
The Sterling Heights VGs would not honor our egg coupon. They said “Incredible” is a brand name and they don’t carry it. And when I argued that it wasn’t a brand name, they said the coupon specified you had to buy “American” eggs and Spartan brand were “Michigan”. I have had more trouble with this store and coupons — it’s always an ordeal. Also, attendants must scan all coupons.
Jolyn says
I’d email the manager. That location really needs to start coupon-educating their cashiers. It’s not just you – many people have trouble there. I know the coupon is different, but those are sad excuses! Obviously they’re unfamiliar with the “incredible edible egg!”
Chrissie says
This actually was the manager! Also, a few weeks ago when the yoplait special was on — buy 20 and get a $2 coupon off your next order, they would not give me the $2 coupon b/c I used coupons for the yogurt. The manager told me b/c I used coupons, I wasn’t actually buying 20 yogurts! I really am frustrated with this store. My friend goes to the the VGs in Waterford and Pontiac and never has any issues.
kathy says
last time I checked, Michigan was in America ๐
Chrissie says
Truly, Kathy — and guess what, my friend went to the Waterford VGs the very next day, used my coupon, and got the eggs! And she says they are always friendly to her and often congratulate her on the bargains she gets. I feel like a criminal everytime I go to the Sterling Heights VGs. So, I will make the extra trip to go elsewhere.
Lynn says
I have issues as well when I go to the Sterling Heights store. I always feeling like I am doing something wrong there.
Rachel says
I just found an amazing deal on mouthwash at the VG’s in Genesee. Crest Pro-Health Multi-Protection Night Mouthwash (1L) with a free regular Pro-Health (250mL) attached is temporarily marked down to $2.94. (Original price $5.99) I used the3- $2/1 Pro-Health Coupon (PG Expires 2/27) and paid $.94 each.
