For what it’s worth, I spoke with a clerk tonight who said her manager has not heard anything to that effect…yet.

  2. 3

    anonymous says

I heard from a manager last night that they are suppose to follow suit after kroger. But they may just stop doubling 1 and leave doubling in play for 50 cent coupons is what he said

  3. 4

    Kimmy says

Does VG’s take manufacturer’s coupons that say “available at Walmart”

    • 5

Esther a homeschool mom in Mid-Michigan says

      @ Kimmy,
VG’S Owosso I know will take coupons that have other store logos on it as long as it says “manufacturer coupon” and has a remit to address. :)

  4. 8

    Donna says

Owosso Vg’s told me 2 weeks ago that they are waiting for Kroger and then they are following. They are ready as of now to stop doubling.

  5. 10

    Aimee Conrad says

Its sad cause these store will be losing a lot of shoppers, and you have to wonder if the extra sales the stores that are still doubling will make then not want to stop.. For now i will not be going to Kroger if I can find better deals else where.

  6. 11

    eve says

Managers at krogers in bc said there lowering all the prices so it will be like doubling

      • 13

        Kimmy says

If they lower their prices to the point where it would be like doubling, then wouldn’t they have the same problems with people reselling their stockpiles, or selling their free stuff at flea markets, etc. just like the do now? I think there will be occasional good deals but I don’t think it will be like doubling!!

      • 14

        Shelley says

Exactly Jolyn; I haven’t really seen this at Meijer since their coupon changes in 2013. The digital rewards seems to be the biggest change.

  7. 15

    Shelley says

I will not be making a special trip to Vg’s in Davision. It was often worth stopping into quickly for those few really great deals but not to make a special trip with such tight limits on their mega event type sales as you couldn’t even get some of each sale item before you were at the 5 count or 10 count. On the flip side .. I am not sure why a store would stop doubling if they were the only one to double in a community .. as it would draw maybe a little extra more business. I guess there is two ways to look at it though.

  8. 16

    Shelley says

I think we will all continue to get deals; but there just won’t be nearly as many good deals and not at as low of price. For myself, I will likely become one of those regular customers again at the drugstores, and roll my rewards for some great savings. As well, I will continue to purchase the produce, the meat, the eggs, the bread, etc. that is on sale for the week. This saves a lot of money alone; and without coupons!!

  9. 17

    kathy says

Well this is the way I feel. Meijers can get away and still not hurt after quitting the double coupons, because they are not just a grocery store they carry other things in the store that brings people to shop. Now Krogers and Vgs are just a grocery store and I feel they will hurt alot from this and may not survive. I will probably not shop at either one of these stores unless they really have great deals and I mean they have to really lower their prices and I really don’t see that really happening to much.
