Sesame Street Live “Elmo Makes Music” is coming to the Fox Theatre (Detroit) from January 24 – February 18, 2012! And there are 41 performances to choose from!
Last year, my family was able to attend Sesame Street Live. I assumed the show might be a little too young for my 15 month old to understand – and a little too boring for my 7 year old. However, our entire family enjoyed the show! The youngest adored watching his favorite characters dance and sing – and the oldest picked up on all of the more subtle jokes woven into the show. The best part for me was enjoying the look on my kids’ faces as they soaked in the same, fun Sesame Street Live that I was once able to attend as a child!
About the show:
Jenny, an enthusiastic new music teacher, arrives on Sesame Street only to discover that her instruments are missing. Jenny’s new Muppet friends quickly come to the rescue and discover ‘instruments’ they never knew existed…rubber duckies, trash can lids and even cookie jars. Elmo and friends teach children that everyone can make and enjoy beautiful music together.
Adults will hear music they’ll recognize and enjoy sharing with children, such as “The Hustle,” “You Should Be Dancing” and “Rockin’ Robin.” “Elmo Makes Music” features nearly two dozen songs, including classics that children will love to sing along with such as “C Is for Cookie” and “The Alphabet Song.”

Sesame Street has been played on my daughter’s little TV almost constantly for 21 years, both old tapes from when she was little and episodes that air on TV currently. (She’s severely handicapped and functions around a 6 month olds level). Sesame Street has been something that has always been calming and something that has brought a smile to her face. Because of it being on so much and what it does for her, it’s hard to pick a favorite, but I’d say her favorite is Elmo. My favorite is between Elmo and Count…Count is just too cool and has a great voice. Would love to take her to the show to see the characters from her favorite show live and all the children singing, dancing and laughing in the audience. She gets a kick out of watching kids play, laugh and sing too so it’s an added bonus.
I have two young children and I would love to see how they would interact with sesame street live! I have never tried anything like this and I am sure it would be a great experience. We have chicken dance Elmo and it is always entertaining watching them interact with it.

My 2 year old daughter would absolutely love this, and since money is tight, winning tickets would be the only way we could take her.
My favorite character is Cookie Monster. I really don’t have a reason as to why. I have just always liked him since I was a child. My sons favorite it Elmo. He has them in all sizes, his backpack, his clothes.
