Jen says
Their quality is A+. I’ve never had meat so good! I tell everyone I can about their product!!!
Tina says
I had a great experience. The transaction was super easy – I only waited in the line for about 10 minutes. They put a plastic bag down to keep the chicken juices from leaking onto my mats. Everyone was very friendly and the chicken is delicious. My boys ask for it a lot.
I’m very excited about the ground beef!
Amanda says
I ordered a case of chicken when they came to MI last time. The company claims “no added hormones or additives” but the breasts are some of the largest I’ve seen. I’m not sure how they can be produced without raising those chickens on antibiotics and hormones. I’m happy to have saved some money, but I won’t order again. I’d rather pay more for humanely raised meat.
Jolyn says
I asked my blogger friends about this and Shellie (SavingwithShellie.com) had already wondered the same thing about the large size. Here’s what she said:
“One thing I noticed about the chicken breasts is how large they are. They are huge! At my conference earlier this month I had a chance to talk at length with one of the owners of Zaycon Foods. He says many people think the breasts are so large because of added hormones. However this isn’t the case. Zaycon chicken has no added hormones, additives or artificial ingredients. The reason they are so large is also the reason they are so inexpensive. They buy the larger grade breasts rejected by restaurants due to their size. This helps them offer it to you for less.”
If you have concerns about the meat, you can always contact them directly. Their phone number is on their website.

I tried the chicken last fall and it is delicious. It tastes fresher and is juicier than anything I’ve found in the grocery store. I actually missed my pick up time last fall because I misread the email. I had to drive a little farther the next day, but they gave me a free case for my trouble even though it was my mistake. They were super helpful and friendly.

I was going to order bacon that last time they had an event scheduled, but they canceled at the last minute….
The chicken we got last fall was very good quality,so I will most certainly order from them this time around.
Tina says
It is great! I will order from them again.

FYI, just so people know, all poultry in this country is required to be raised hormone-free. It is illegal, and has been for many years (~25), to use hormones on them.
Julie V says
Where did you get this information. I have never heard of this. I’m really interested to get more detail. Where can I find more info on this law about adding hormones to meat? I am very skeptical that this is true.
Julie V says
found the info. thank you for the heads up.
Beth says
I will admit that I was VERY skeptical when I first heard about this, and when the pick-up day came I swore that nobody would be there for me to pick it up because the deal was so good. I am HAPPY to report that I could not have been more wrong. This company was a pleasure to deal with, they are 100% honest about their product and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I will continue to order from Zaycon every time they come to my area. This was the BEST chicken that I have ever eaten and we eat tons of chicken in this house. Just be prepared ahead of time to re-package your meat as soon as you get home.
I am looking forward to trying the beef and the bacon. YUMMY!
Carla says
The whole process was quick and easy! Ordered one case, pick up took less than 5 minutes and I didn’t have to get out of my car. They put a plastic bag down in my trunk before they put the chicken in. This is fresh chicken that tastes great! I trimmed the chicken before I froze it and didn’t have to trim that much at all. Highly recommend this chicken.

We ordered the chicken for the first time last fall. They are super good, and I love the fact there is no salt added.
I’m afraid the hamburger is in packages way to large for our 2-person family, I have no idea what I would do with 10# of hamburger. If it wasn’t frozen, or was frozen in 1 or 2 pound packages, I would be more interested.
I feel the same about the bacon, frozen in 7 1/2 # per package? We eat only a few slices one a week, so that may not work for us either.
Jolyn says
You would have to treat it the same way you treat the chicken when you bring it home – portion and freeze it. When we get ground beef, we mix and press burgers, then freeze them on a cookie sheet before putting them in a freezer bag for storage. Or use the same method to make meatballs. It’s a good way to save if you use a lot of it – but you’ll need to put in the time, too.
Darlene says
Very good quality and tasty! We breaded half and then froze it. The other half we shared with friends/family.
Scheneithia says
We LOVED the chicken!!! We eat chicken @ least four days out of the week. We bought two boxes. & it was gone by NOV! So we will be getting more this time. I too had the same worries that no one would be ther & that the chicken wasnt going to be good. I could not have been more wrong. Looking forward to doing business again real soon!!!
Lisa Keeth says
I like Amanda above was shocked by the size my husband said ” WHOA what do they feed those chickens! ” I have to admit it really freaked me out to think something was really given to those chickens to make them SO big. So..I guess it’s just my OCD which will prevent me from ordering again. I actually tossed most of it in the trash I couldn’t bring myself to feed it to my kids. I have never seen chicken breasts so freakishly large. I also thought it a bit odd to pick up chicken from a bowling alley parking lot coming out of a uhaul truck.
Jolyn says
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience, Lisa! 🙁
Mary says
We buy chickens from the farmers because they are bigger then the store bought typically. The taste of these breast was very close to all the whole chickens we buy from the farmers and 4-H kids.

I have a few questions. 1. How is the 40 lbs. of chicken packaged (ie. all in one case, in 4-10# bags, etc)? 2. Are the meats frozen when you get them? 3. If they are frozen, do people let them thaw out, prep them and them re-freeze them? Thanks.
Jolyn says
If you click on my review, you can learn more. But here are the answers anyway:
1. One case, which contains FOUR 10 lb bags
2. Meat is fresh from the farm – it has never been frozen
Amy says
So glad they are coming back! I ordered the chicken last time, planned to package it up. I cooked up a crockpot full of shredded chicken which I packaged and froze for chicken salad, chicken and noodles, buffalo chicken dip. I made up a LOT of bags with marinades, BBQ sauce, dressing so I just pull that out of the freezer and stick in the crockpot. Then we also froze the remaining breasts on cookie sheets and then transferred to bags.
The breasts are huge and I did cut them in half and some into thirds which I will do again. I have raised meat chickens before and they are genetically engineered to grow so if you keep them long enough, they get to be huge.
I’m so excited to try the beef, just have to plan how much to get:)

DOes anyone know what price the beef & bacon are going for? I didn’t see it on the website (maybe my coffee hasn’t kicked in either). 40 pounds is a bit too much for us, but if anyone is interested in splitting, I would be open to that. 10 pounds is about all we could handle for a bit. We have chicken about 2x per week & I still have a lot of chicken left from the fall order.
jenni says
It was a easy pickup – my DH did the pickup, and had no issues. Later that night we cut up half into tenders and portioned all of it out into servings and froze it. (this was our first use of our Foodsaver; it worked great!)
After reading the hormone statement I did some research, and as Amy and L.C. stated, hormones were banned years ago (they were only briefly used in the 40s). The breasts are large because the chicken was breed for large breasts; think dachshund being breed for a long body and short legs to go into animal holes. Also, unless buying organic chicken or beef, they will have been feed antibiotics; this includes free-range chickens.
So, if you buy chicken from a grocery store you are, in a sense, buying the same chicken as is being offered. I like this better because it does not have the 10%-15% solution injected into the breasts as does most grocery store chicken.

We absolutely loved the chicken. It was so tasty and like previously said, the breasts were huge. We cut many of them and packaged in bags of 2-5 and then used our vacuum sealer. We still have some left. I ordered one case and my sister, who is a fabulous cook, ordered two and absolutely loved them. We’ve been waiting for them to come back!
Mary says
I will be ordering them again, as well as ordering for the girls at work. We loved them! Nice large breast that I can use one breast for multiple lunches at work. I am increasing my personal order too. Waiting for some reviews on the hamburg and bacon…
