VG’s COUPON REDEMPTION GUIDELINES
These VG’s stores double coupons to $0.50: Brighton, Fenton, Marine City, North Fenton, Pontiac, Shelby, Sterling Heights & Waterford
As posted in the store and online:
The following guidelines have been established in order to keep our prices low, remain competitive and ensure availability of product for all our customers.
- Product listed on coupon must be purchased in order for coupon to be redeemed.
- We will redeem only one coupon per product.
- Coupon must have a valid expiration date. We are unable to redeem if expiration date has been cut off.
- We are happy to double coupons up to and including $0.50 cents.
- There is a limit of 3 like coupons per household/per day, including multiple varieties. We are unable to split orders to assist in exceeding these limits.
- Coupons that state Do Not Double will be redeemed at face value only.
- Coupon value, including the amount being doubled, shall not exceed the price the product is sold for.
- In-store promotional coupons (Catalina) will be generated based on value of product after deduction of Manufacturer/Store coupon(s).
- We are happy to accept internet printable coupons, however, we are unable to accept photocopies of these coupons.
- On a buy one get one free offer, we will redeem a coupon for the item being purchased only. We are unable to redeem coupons for the items that are being offered free.
VG’s SHOPPING TIPS
VG’s offers a $0.05 reusable bag credit per bag you bring. You may have to remind your cashier, however, as the credit is not automatic.
You’ll find printable Spartan coupons at the Turn to Spartan website. You’ll need to register first. Coupons will NOT double, but they could stretch your savings on Spartan brands even further.
Save your receipts – as part of VG’s Community Share Program, they can benefit non-profit groups in Michigan. You don’t need to sign up; simply find a participating group and submit your receipts. Trinity Lutheran Church in Utica uses the Community Share Program to purchase socks for the homeless. You can leave your receipts at the front desk there if you can’t find another organization.
Shopping with Kids? Stop by the customer service desk and sign them up for the Zoo Crew Kids’ Club. They’ll receive special treats, including a cookie from the bakery when they visit!

I had issues with the coupon network coupons for the cereal working, the cashier had to manually input them
the .79 spartan cereal is only after 100 points, not .79 on sale:(
Tonya says
The frosted cereal isn’t included in sale 🙁 and the cereal coupons didn’t scan they needed to be manually put in. One cashier was willing to do it, other not so friendly.
kim d says
i purchased the frosted toast crunch today and it was one of the cereals in this deal. i also used the coupons from coupon.com some worked and some didn ‘t. The cashier kindly put them in by hand. This was at the V.G.’s in Owosso. i have always been treated great there!
cheryl says
I love the store in owosso also, I went last week and my cashier was reading all the coupons, i had 20 items and was in line for nearly 20min, all the people in line behind me kept giving me dirty looks. just don’t know if i want to put up with the hassle anymore…
Autumn says
They are reading them so they don’t get burned on the ones that say “do not double” and to make sure we as couponers have followed what the coupon says exactly, i.e., exact items, quantity, etc. I have absolutely NO problem with that — it is either that, or the coupon policy will become more stringent, perhaps no doubling. I would rather wait while they make sure everything is as it should be than lose the privileges we have.
VANESSA RUSHING says
VG’s is running the few customers they have left away with their coupon scamming!!!! Their prices are so expensive on other items too. It’s not worth arguing with the rude, inconsiderate cashiers either.
Jill says
I agree completely. They have shown they are not a coupon-friendly store, time and time again. The stores in my area double to a dollar, and occasionally I want to go there, but most times do not. Unless it is a phenomenal deal (read: free) I keep my distance.
Jim says
I have never had an issue with the Howell store. The cashiers have always been nothing but nice. I will agree that they are over priced and I only shop there with coupons.
Jessi says
I agree with you Jim, I LOVE the Howell VG’s, but I did have a bad experience there yesterday. I went in to purchase my 10 items and four of my coupons were printed from Coupon Network and they would NOT take them because they wouldn’ t scan nor were they willing to do it manually. I had to walk out with nothing because those 4 items were part of my 10 and I didn’ t have any other coupons. Needless to say, I was pretty bummed!! 🙁
Jim says
I had the same problem today Jessi, I also left my order.
Michelle Jiskra says
I have had many problems with newer printable coupons at the Howell store. I think maybe they have not updated their computer systems yet to include the new barcodes, although they had plenty of time to do that.
I also saw that Smithfield Bacon was on sale for $3.99 for the 12-16oz, and there was a coupon (not sure what insert, but it was in the last month I believe) for $1 off of any 1. If you have a VG’s that doubles, that would make it $1.99 a package. Not sure if it is a stock up price, but I thought it was a good deal, as bacon has not been that low lately.
Tamara says
The VGs in Owosso is HORRIBLE. I have started shopping at the VGs on Corunna Road in Flint because it’s close to my work and almost always in stock. I recently made a trip the one in Owosso and was saddened with how I was treated. I was so uncomfortable with the way they treated me and it was the manager. As soon as they see those coupons, their whole attitude towards you AND your groceries change, like we taking it out of their paycheck. I am definetely sticking to the Corunna Road VGs in Flint. The deals that I do get, are good, but not worth being treated like crap. I will pay full price somehwere else before dealing with that again.
Esther a homeschool momma in Mid-Michigan says
@Tamara,
Sorry to hear you had a bad experience at the Owosso VG’s. I’ve been shopping there a lot more since they started doubling the $1 coupons 🙂
I have never had a rude cashier and when a coupon hasn’t scanned properly due to a programming glitch on their part, the managers have always treated me with respect and punched in the coupons by hand. Other than hot coupons items not being in stock, they usually have the stock back in by Saturday am. And if they don’t get stock it right away, I get a raincheck with no problems! There are several cashiers that follow B2B so they too can save money on their groceries 🙂
cheryl says
wish i would get those nice cashiers.
Vickie says
Does anyone know which cereals ARE included in the sale? Thanks so much!
Stacey says
At Shelby store:
Golden Grahams, Cinnamon Toast Crunch (regular & frosted), Peanut Butter Cheerios, Multi Grain Cheerios, Dulce de Leche Cheerios, & Trix.
Tammy says
I have never had a problem with the West Flint store either. However, when a coupon does not scan, they do take the time to ask a manager, but I have not had a manager turn down a coupon yet.
BTW… today I found a few good clearance deals.
Aveeno Shampoo – was $6.99, marked down 50%, used $2.00 coupon (Got this for $1.49)
Loreal Studio Line Hair Gel – was $4.49, marked down 50%, used a $1.00 coupon that doubled (Got this for $.24).
Autumn says
Check out the hair color section… a lot of the L’Oreal is on clearance for half off, so with the $2.00 coupon, you can score some for a little over 2 bucks a box!
Stacey says
FYI – price on the sale Barilla pasta is $1.11 for most varieties (including whole grain), and $1.43 for some. The sauce is $2.71.
Melissa says
If anyone is interested… I just left the Shelby Store — they have select varieties of Degree, Axe, and I think sauve Deodorants 40% off the discontinued scents. Not sure if thats a good stock up price if there are coupons out there. Also, select dawn and palmolive dish soap. They are in the normal aisle since the table is marked 50% off.
