Kroger Matchups: July 25-31, 2011

These Kroger deal matchups have been created using the Kroger store ad for the Metro Detroit area, where coupons double up to $0.50 (limit 3 identical coupons per order). I’ve listed only what I consider to be the best deals for your money this week.

This is the last week to register to win FREE ICE CREAM for a YEAR from Kroger and Hudsonville – one winner will be selected each day during the month of July. Three B2B readers have already been selected as winners!

Kroger Catalina Promotions

Unless otherwise stated, all Catalina offers are limited to one per transaction. Read more about what to do if your Catalina coupon doesn’t print as expected.

Have you received a Catalina advertisement at a Kroger register? Please share in the comments!

Buy 4 or more Dole Mandarin Oranges (11 or 15 oz) in one transaction, get a $0.75 checkout coupon valid on your next order. (6/20-8/7)

You can now view the Kroger coupon policy for Michigan online.
Please that Kroger’s coupon policy clearly states in each store ad: Limit 3 Manufacturer’s Coupons will be Doubled (up to $0.50) per Like Items Purchased.

NOTE on Printable Coupons: Some Kroger stores have been denying the redemption of any printable coupon over $1, so proceed with caution when using printable coupons. You can view/print the Kroger Print-at-Home Coupon Acceptance Policy here, which does not specifically restrict the use of printables over $1.

You WILL need a Kroger card to take advantage of these offers; sign up for one at the Customer Service desk if you do not have one!

SELECT Kroger stores outside of Macomb (some stores in Saginaw and Genessee counties along with the Howell location – view a full list here or a map of stores here) will double manufacturer’s coupons up to $1.00! This can mean a great savings (and some potential free items each week). If your travels happen to take you north, check the Kroger ad (search by zip code) for the areas you’re passing through. You just might want to pack your coupons, too!

Load digital coupons to your Kroger card before you shop: visit Cellfire, P&G eSaver, Shortcuts and Kroger Digital Coupons. Each website lists the e-coupons that can be loaded onto your Kroger Card so that you can save even more! E-coupons are limited to one use per card and will NOT double. Kroger digital coupons may NOT be combined with actual paper manufacturer coupons.

Sarah – coupon values can vary by region. Some regions got the $1/2 and others got the .40/1.

    • 6

      Kelly says

Wow!! Wish I had that one. As, it would allow me to get TWO for FREE!!! Though, I am not complaining! The Kroger by me doubles up to and including a $1.00!!

  1. 7

    Marianne says

I will post this here in case people did not see it on the In store deals thread.
Kikkoman has $1 off any product on both their web site and Facebook -my stores double $1 -so free sauce or Panko crumbs. I did not check the price at VG’s and at Meijer most jars were 2.39 or so. Kroger sold the smaller jars of soy sauce for less than 1.50 -but I did not look at the price when I was there this morning.
The q prints with a very large ink guzzling ad at the bottom…

  2. 9

    Jessie says

If you register with you can print a $.75 off coupon for milk. Same price as the $1.50 off.
And register you can print $1.50 off 2 Nestle Toll House Refrigerated Cookie Dough.
    $1.75 each after coupon.

  3. 11

    kathy r says

    Buy Degree Men Deodorant (8/8/11 – 9/4/11)
    Buy 2 get $1
    Buy 3 get $2

  4. 12

    Kimmy says

I can not find kikkoman panko crumbs or Athenos feta cheese anywhere at the Owosso store…I couldn’t find shelf tags either. Can anyone help?

    • 16

      chris says

When I was at the Owosso Kroger on the 23rd, I was told they no longer take expired coupons and they’ll no longer double coupons if it says do not double. Corporate decided this. Just thought I’d let you know, I had to redo my whole order.

      • 17

        Kimmy says

I was in Kroger Sat. night with a very small order. There wasn’t any exprired coupons and they matched perfectly. IT TOOK ME FOREVER TO GET THRU CHECKOUT!!! They just had a big meeting and corp is cracking down. They are suppose to visuably match the coupons to the product then ring. The cashier then read the coupons and called the manager over 3 times!!! I can’t even imagine how long it would have taken if I had been doing the bulk of my shopping instead of just picking up a few items. The manager told me that if they double a DND that they can be fired for it!!

  5. 20

    Jenna O'Dwyer says

I got a $2 OYNO today from Crest. I bought (3) $1 sale tubes. Did 2 transacations and printed each time :)

    • 21

      Wendy says

I purchased 6 Crest Toothpaste in 3 separate orders and received $2.00 off my next shopping order catalina on each order. So made $6.00. Love this deal!

      • 22

        Wendy says

So to clarify what I said above, I received 18 free toothpaste (plus tax) and got (3) $2.00 catalinas for my next shopping trip. :)

    • 23

      kim says

I did also!! Iwas already happy about the free crest which was 10/10 so I combined my Brownie q crest q and crest toothbrush q all together for a 10/10 deal and I got a 2.00 catalina from crest !!whoohoo. I did three trans actions and none were over 2.50 for 10 items!! Great day at Kroger!!

  6. 24

    Laura says

I couldn’t get the 1.50 off 2 GM cereals coupon to print. It told me I have already printed it too many times even though I’ve never printed it. Anyone know why it may be doing this?

    • 25

      Kimmy says

Laura, I have this happen every once in awhile. There are some coupons I know I haven’t printed and they will tell me I did. It happens to my sis once in awhile too!!!

  7. 26

    Faatima Evans says

I cannot find the .75 off q for crest. Did we get that q here in Detroit??

    • 27

      Kelly says

We actually got $1.00 off of two in the Proctor and Gamble inserts (both June and July).

  8. 32

    Amy says

I was doing the match up to get the free Safeguard/Ivory soaps and my coupons (Detroit news) in the 7/3 RP are $1.00 off of 2 not $0.50 off of one so for me they would be $0.50 each still because my store only doubles to $0.50 :(

      • 34

        Amy says

Thats ok, just thought I was in the unlucky coupon club lol. I still bought some 50 cents is still a great buy!

      • 35

        Amy says

Thats ok, just thought I was in the unlucky coupon club lol. I still bought some 50 cents is still a great buy!

        • 36

          Kelly says

It IS still a good buy Amy. But, if you come up to the Grand Blanc store, they double up to a dollar!! I think there are a few others in Metro Detroit, as well.

        • 37

          Linda says

looks like the coupon preview for Sunday 7/31 might be $.50 off 1. So since Kroger’s ad will still be good Sunday, they would be free. I bought a ton at $.50, still a good deal.

    • 38

      Andrea says

There were $.50/1 off coupons in the TX area inserts…I purchase my inserts through a service and then hand clip and got some of them so free Ivory sounds good to me…the only soaps my husband will use are bar soaps. Thanks for the tip! :)

  9. 39

    Amy says

Ok I just left Kroger and man o man did they give me trouble on the oral b toothbrush coupon! I don’t know why it was so hard that 10 for $10 toothbrushes and a $2 off 2 coupon didn’t match up but the cashier (the customer service manager) said the coupon exceeded the item amount. I asked to speak to her manager and after a conversation on the phone the cashier put my coupons through. I think its time I find a new store. In the end… Just BEWARE of a hassle and ask for a manager.

    • 40

      Amy says

but I was excited to see that I got 100 fuel points for my reusable bag I brought in. does anyone know if that is all the time or just a special promotion? I always take my own bags and haven’t seen it before.

      • 41

        Autumn says

I heard it was a limited time deal, because they have stopped the nickel per bag deal…. I don’t know if it is one deal per card period, or if you will keep getting it on the same card til they stop doing it… have only gotten it once myself. Will find out this week if it’s still running. Also, someone told me that some cashiers do it automatically, but in some locations you have to ask to get it!

      • 42

        gail says

I heard the 100 points is a one time only thing. I wish they still gave 5 cents a bag. :(

        • 43

          Jennifer says

I have gotten the 100 points everytime I went in and used a bag in Holt, Mi (near Lansing). Sometimes they remember and sometimes I remind them, but by the end of the week after 5 trips, plus my regular points and what I had from that month I saved 70 cents a gallon. It was awesome!

    • 44

      Dori says

It’s been my experience lately that coupons are not scanning right all over the place. It took the cashier at the self check out at Kroger in Monroe about 10 minutes to get one of my coupons to come off right. Don’t know what the screen was saying since they scan them themselves. At Meijer, I’m always getting “too few items sold,” “does not match family code,” and even an “expired” recently on a new coupon.

      • 45

Esther a homeschool momma in Mid-Michigan says

The scanning problems as of late could be the result from the new databars coupon codes that are coming out. Coupon barcodes began changing as of July 1, 2011. Coupons are moving away from the old UPC style coupons to the new GS1 Databar coupons. You can find a full explanation @
        Hope this helps :)

I hope my store has some…my kids gobble up fruit like there’s no tomorrow and we’re out right now. Thanks B2B for the great help! :)

  11. 49

    Toni says

The Brut coupon from the 4-10-11 ss expired on 5/31/2011. Unless you meant to reference a different coupon.

    • 50

      Andrea says

Luckily, mine hasn’t expired yet and if you look on’s database here: they have it listed as expiring 7/31/11, too. It depends on what paper you get…everyone’s papers are different. I’m in Jackson area and even here we are way different than Detroit and Detroit is different than Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor different than Saline, etc. Unfortunately that’s just the way it goes which is why it’s better to trade coupons a lot. The trading board at is a place I spend a lot of my time for that reason. I don’t buy coupons usually because they are outrageous (inserts maybe but not individual coupons). Hope this helps! :)

  12. 51

    Toni says

There is a .75/1 Crest toothpaste in one of the P&G from June or July. Since my Kroger only doubles to .50 it’s a better deal to use the .75 off, so toothpaste will only be .25!

  13. 52

Was Brut on sale last week too? Because this morning right at open I went to kroger and of course they were sold out!?!?!

    • 53

Esther a homeschool momma in Mid-Michigan says

Yes, the Brut was on sale last week also. Ask for a “raincheck” if your store is still out of stock and maybe you can get them before your coupons expire or hold on to your raincheck until the coupon comes around again :)

  14. 54

    Shelly says

A couple weeks ago there was an online coupon (I believe on for $1/2 bic pens. The 10pks of bic crystal pens are .79 each – $1/2 coupon = .29 each wyb2, great deal since they’re usually 1.99 :)
Also check the hand soap area for soft soap shea butter, it was a close-out item at my location marked down to 1.81 – .35 coupon from Sundays paper made it 1.11, not bad for nice soap

  15. 55

    coupon guy says

am i the only one that can’t seem to fine the Stonyfield Yogurt at any kroger in the warren/sterling heights area? i’ve been to many and have searched yogurt section high n low :(

    • 56

      Nicole says

Have you looked in the organic/natural aisle? Thats where it is located at my kroger (canal/schoenherr). HTH!

I found it on Saturday at the Hoover/11 Kroger in Warren. I think it was just opposite the deli area, they’re moving stuff around so they may have moved it again.

It’s in the organic section at the Kroger in Howell. They have a small dairy cooler there. The organic section is located up at the front of the store next to pharmacy.

A great addition to the Starburst/Skittle deal is that if you buy 2 in one transaction, you also get a free Redbox coupon from the Catalina machine.

I’m saving these up for our road trip. We pick up a Redbox and then return it along the way = no lost movies from our own collection or the library during a trip, and the kids are excited to watch all the new movies while we’re driving.

Just FYI for those in Howell…I just got back from Kroger and they said that with the buy 4 cereals get 2 milks free deal they are not letting you use coupons on the cereal. However, I had a total of 4 gallons of milk b/c the fiber one bars were also included in the buy 4 get 2 milks free and they did let me use coupons on the bars. I understand that the Howell Kroger gets a lot of business from couponers b/c of doubling to a dollar, but they are really making me not want to shop there anymore.

The store here in Grand Blanc let me use my cereal coupons (they double to a dollar as well), for any readers who are wondering if Grand Blanc will follow suit on that one.

I used coupons on all the cereal I bought here in Holt. They need a store wide policy and not one rule for here and not there.

Just returned from the Kroger in Brighton where I was told by the attendant at the self scan that I could not use 2 coupons on 2 like products. I wish I had brought a copy of their coupon policy with me because I bought a bag of skittles and a bag of starburst…I had one coupon for $1.00 off (skittles/starburst) and another for 75 cents off (skittles/starburst) but she would only accept one of them.

    Julie says

I think it’s time to find a new place to do the majority of my shopping. Kroger is making it much to hard to use coupons. They don’t realize that in these hard times, their market share will go down by all of us coupon moms going elsewhere to get less of a hassle. Just saying!!!

    BTW…I love Bargains to bounty!!!

    Raeanne says

Minute Maid frozen lemonade is back on sale $10/10 and match it with the new .50/1 coupon and its free again!

On another note… I just had the worst experience at the Krogers in Owosso! I was at the service desk for an hour and a half dealing with a very mean CSM. She told me that when the computer prompts her to do an over-ride for having a large amount of coupons she has to check through my cart and match each coupon with what I bought to make sure it goes with the coupon!! She was not pleasant about this by any means and basically accused me of stealing a couple times, which after checking everything I was redeemed! She said that this is what will happen every time from now on and it was put in place a month ago. I told her that I call about every other week to make sure nothing has changed in their policy and I was never told of this “policy” and she didn’t even care or apologize.
This would mean majority of b2b shoppers would have to add a hour to their shopping trip to accommodate this policy!! To put in to context, I barely told one eighth of what happened to me and how mean she actually was to me…
When I got home I called corporate and told them of my horrible experience and they said that what she said was incorrect. That has never been their policy and she apologized like crazy and said she will have someone call me back to discuss this further.
The name of the CSM at Krogers is Tina. Please, let me know if anyone else is having this problem.

I’ve had several problems lately with the same Kroger, different lady. I had a horrible experience about a month ago with one of the you scan ladies and I won’t go through her lane again. I left feeling extremely bad about using my coupons and the items that I was purchasing. Practically in tears when I left. I’ve found that the folks are a lot nicer at Vg’s and Meijers

Raeanne & Jill, I shop at the same store. Read my comments about my trip on Sat farther up on these notes. Sadly 8 cashiers were fired last week because couponers were using a $10 off crest white strips for something other than white strips. We are all paying the price. The cashiers are scared and we couponers are getting a bad rep. It took along time for me to get thru the checkout too even though I only had a small order and everything was perfectly matched. The manager was kind but said that if a manager comes over that they have to rematch every coupon to the product. My cashier sat. night told me they have to manually match the coupon to the product before they ring. I was also told these orders came from corporate. At the end of the day I feel bad for the cashiers and the HONEST couponers!!! I am sorry that she was so mean to you, that isn’t right!!!

I replied to this once but since it hasn’t shown on here I will again. Raeanne and Jill scroll up further and read about my last trip Sat. night to Kroger. I had a small order and everything was matched perfectly and it took me forever to get thru. 8 employees were fired last week, apparently some customers were using the $10 off white strips coupon for purchase other items than white strips. I was told that orders were coming from corporate and that the had to manually match the coupons to the product before ringing. The manager was very nice even though he had to come over 3 times just to help read coupons, etc. He said if the cashier doubles a DND coupon they can be fired. I see both sides and feel bad for the cashiers and the HONEST couponers!!! That said the manager should not have been so mean…it isn’t your fault. So sorry this happened. I find more “coupon items” at Kroger than anywhere else so I’m afraid of where this will lead=(

I thought b1g1 rang up at 1/2 price so wouldn’t you be able to use a coupon with that? I swear I used a $2 playtex coupons on b1g1 as they rand $2 each instead of $4.

I’m sorry to hear that so many B2B shoppers are having problems at Kroger. Personally, I only shop there once in a while when there are a lot of good deals to snatch. I do want to say that I have never had problems using coupons at the Romeo Kroger and the 23 Mile/Van Dyke Kroger….just in case any of you are looking for a friendlier store.

  25. 85

    A says

There are 2 cashiers in Grand Blanc that I flat out refuse to go to. I not only match my coupons exactly I put any coupons for free item first, then in lots of three, then all items are unloaded that way. I do the same everywhere those two ladies still gave me issues the one “let” them go through this time (yes since there was nothing wrong and I mentioned manager), the other wouldn’t budge I made a manager come over she corrected the cashier and I went on my way. Still left a bad taste in my mouth.

Just an FYI – the Kraft FB coupons are printing off $1 off of 2, not $1 off of 1. So that would make the Kraft cheese $2.29. Not that great of a deal if the Kroger brand is cheaper. Not sure it is though.

      Erin says

Yea, I just now realized this after buying 12 bags of it! I knew the math in my head wasn’t adding up so when I got home I figured this out. Oh, well. I REALLY like the Kraft Philly cheese and we were almost out of shredded cheese and this seems to go further (don’t need as much) as the yucky store brand.

Wow went to Kroger tonight and what a pain, My cashier was very nice and said people had been yelling at her, she is just doing her job.

They now match every couppon to the product before they ring you up, this just makes checking out take 3 times as long. I hope they change their policy or have one person check the coupons and another ringing up the order.

    • 89

      Kimmy says

I think I’m going to put the coupon right on top of the item as I place it on the checkout. That way they don’t have to take my stack of coupons and match them. They can check them immediately that way.

I went to the kroger in kenton and was suprised when i went to use 3 of my $2.00 cats and was refused and told i could only use 1 per transation. The coupon states limit 1 per purchase. not 1 per transaction! there is a differ right? not to mention I was told I could walk out of the store and come back in. Its 85 degrees in oh so im gonna leave my yogurt and cheese and sausage in the car and drag my 3 yr old son back in the store every time i want to spend $2.00!!! not worth my time…

when I presented 3 coupons I got off the internet for chips, I was only allowed to use ONE…they were each for $1.00…they said the coupons have the same coupon number so I could only use one. I don’t understand what they’re talking about. I have used three at a time many many times…at the same store…their policy is you may use three…also when I purchase several Sunday papers to get three coupons for the same item…is this a new policy? The cashier was rude, would only say they had the same number…can’t use them…I am so disgusted…Krogers needs those few dollars more then I do…I will not be shopping there anymore. Good customer service! Has anyone had the same problem?

We were recently at kroger and had coupon items.. I had it all planned out to make 2 seperate transactions as we had 6coupons per item.. Very neatly organized on the checkout belt and seperated.. Mind you we were the only ones in line and only had bout 12 items on each order….We were informed new policy is they will only accept 3 LIKE COUPONS PER CUSTOMER… We told them we had 2 seperate orders and they said limit 1 order per customer due to the coupons.. So we told them we have been coming here for a very long time using coupons and making 2 orders per shopping trip.. They did not care.. Well, we decided to tell them after ringing up the first order….Never mind we dont need any of it as they never told us this until after the first order was completly rung up… So we ended up in frustration left everything at the register and told them have a nice day..We will take our business somewhere else. Very rude cashier as well…

I was walking in the HBA and looking for brut deodorant. I had my binder and this employee practically attacked me asking me if I knew about the new coupon policy. I told her I didn’t. She said you can only use 3 identical coupons per transaction per day. I said, oh, okay. and then got my 6 Bruts, Herbal essence deal (1 shampoo & 1 hair gel for $5 used, my $3) then checked out. I figured if I was going to have issues with at checkout, then I would put 3 back. Since I had just checked out the day before with 20 of them with no problem, I thought I would risk it. I had no issues at the checkout about my 6 brut coupons or Herbal essence coupons. I paid $2 and some change and got my 100 fuel points (which I had to ask for for my bags). Why is it because I”m organized and have a Q binder that I get stared at and attacked in the aisles? Both checkout and regular? And never mind my ENTIRE purchase went to the food bank at my church. I mean, once they submit those coupons to the clearing house, they get 93% of the money returned to them don’t they?

        • 98

          jasmine says

I would consider buying 20 bruts at one time shelf clearing… so yes, if i worked at kroger i would give you a hard time too. That is exactly why we are given a hard time, because people go overboard like you did!!… some items for the regular shoppers that are trying to save money for their families and not hoarding 20 deodorants at a time. Go ahead and get them while you can because people like you are the reason they are changing the coupon rules!!!

      Ann says

When you print coupons off the internet, most coupons have a numbe, usually in the top right hand corner. This number changes with each print from the site. So if you print two coupons, these numbers are completely different. If the coupons are copied, obviously these numbers will be the same and the cashier would only be able to accept one of them. However, it has been my experience, that many cashiers look at the barcode and assume that this is the number they are supposed to be looking at (the barcode will always be the same) and wrongfully deny the coupon. Hope that helps.
