DID YOU KNOW?
Restaurant.com has removed the one year expiration date – now Restaurant.com certificates never expire! Even those I had purchased previously and printed (with an expiration date) are available to print in my account – and they print differently now, without a date!

Well I think we’re going out to dinner!

I’ve been using this website for years now and have always had a wonderful experience with them. They used to have some certificates for Palio’s in Ann Arbor but haven’t seen those in awhile. I usuallly buy a bunch to stock up when they are so cheap, but they really have this sale every month or so.

I’m excited because they have added The Wellington Pub in Troy! My friend has a band that plays there a lot and I have eaten about 6 different entrees, all of them excellent. The last one I had was to die for! Chicken breast with goat cheese and sundried tomatoes and fresh basil. It looked like a page out of a magazine. They have pizza and seafood and there are big chunks of beef in the Shepherd’s Pie. I hear their burgers are really good, but I’ve been too busy trying out the fancier stuff to give those a try. The wait staff is really friendly and helpful too.
The only problem for me is that restaurant.com only makes certificates for 2 diners, and I usually eat alone because my friend can’t have a big meal before he sings.
The band is Mainstreet Soul, in case you want to check them out. They play Motown hits and ones by bands like Chicago and Steely Dan. They have some videos on their website if you want to hear them ahead of time. Great for dancing, or just being amazed by the musicianship of the 10 piece band that includes horns. I’m glad restaurant.com is going to give them the bigger audience they deserve.
I never have to pay real money for the certificates because they take paypal, which I earn doing surveys online. :-)

anyone have a good way to present this as a gift? A piece of printer paper doesn’t look very fancy :(

5 Lee Robertson September 30, 2010 at 8:41 AM

@ Rhonda, dress it up with a card,or roll a few into a scroll and hold in place with a nice ribbon. My parents and friends love it when I gift them these.I’ve even used them as barter for work a friend does for us.I “pay” him in gift certificates,he loves it.

The server seems slammed. I can’t finish an order.

7 Shauna September 30, 2010 at 9:14 AM

@Rhonda: You could put the piece of paper into a picture frame (available at the the Dollar Tree) and give it as a gift that way!

Is there a limit as to how many you can buy with the discount?

8 Jolyn September 30, 2010 at 9:58 AM

There is no limit to the amount you can purchase – though you may be limited to how many certificates you can spend at the same restaurant in a given month.

I just bought 29! Several are gifts. I like to give the GC’s along with a Visa or MC gift card, that way it is a true gift with nothing out of pocket for the receiver of the gift.

oh my gosh! tried this yesterday for a good part of the day. the order went thru until it was time to process and the server would not go through. now today and same thing yesterday saying im using a wrong type of credit card. ive tried 2 different visas and and a MC. ESTER IM HAPPY TO SEE at least someone made out. very very disappointed. any help would be appreciated. alot of the good restaurants are not even there today. donna

There at least was a notice on the website admitting they were behind in filling orders. I had no trouble getting my order to go thru with paypal last night, and I received the link to print the certificates this morning. No one could have used them right after buying them, with slow service like this, but to me it was worth the wait, since I didn’t need them immediately.
