If you’ve already signed up to receive text messages containing deal alerts from Meijer, you’ll want to check your text messages. Shoppers enrolled in the program recently received a message including a mPerks coupon valid for $10 off $50 in grocery and other items (exclusions apply, expires May 31) to be used once by the person who received it. Not a bad perk!
At checkout, you simply look for the mPerks button at checkout (on the bottom of U-scan or credit card machine screens) and select the button anytime after your first item has been scanned. The computer will then prompt you for your 10 digit cell phone number and the savings will deduct when you meet the criteria (in this case, a $50 total). You can see a description of how this works in pictures here.
This program is very new and not all cashiers are familiar with it yet. However, those who have tried the mPerks coupon have found that it worked flawlessly. While you’ll want to receive this discount before any coupons are deducted, those who forgot (and entered their mPerks information last) still received the discount.

Did you forget about all the people that do not even have a cell phone? In our family, three of us do not have a cell phone and one does not even have a computer. These deals should be for all of us. The less fortunate could really use them.
No, of course not! Meijer also offers email and home phone reminders. However, they seem to be making coupon offers available through this new text message registration. This is where a lot of companies are headed, since so many people are texting (and I’m not one of them, either!). If you’re concerned and this still bothers you, I’d suggest writing an email to Meijer through the meijer.com website. They need to know!
@Linda Rubino, Have you looked into this free cellphone program only for the less fortunate?

Thanks for sharing Jolyn. I don’t text, but I realize that other people do. I didn’t know about this program until you mentioned it.
I received this texy ($10 OFF $50) and neither the checkout clerk or the manager had any idea what it was…they looked at me like I was CRAZY. But, a young fella walked by and happened to hear our conversation and explained to his manager that it was indeed legit and showed all of us how to take advantage of it. Needless to say, it worked like a charm and I got the $10 off! …couldn’t be happier…
According to our Meijer newsletter (I work there), they’re also going to have a clipless coupon system (kind of like Kroger’s digital coupons) soon for mperks members. Right now it’s only for Meijer team members, but they expect it to be up and running by the end of the summer for all customers!
Thanks for the valuable info, Dawn!
How long after you signed up did you receive the text offers? I received a text right away to text promo to get deals but havent received anything since.
Need an easier way to enroll in mperks and needs to be on meijer employee website. Having problems enrolling and not able to use mperks or access it at home or at meijers.
Be sure to contact Meijer and let them know directly!
I did sign up and tried to enter my information when I was checking out and it gave me an error message. Anyone else experience this?
Since there are no text coupons/offers currently available, that’s probably why you’d receive an error message at the Meijer checkout. In the future, you should get text coupons/offers sent to your phone that you can redeem at the checkout.
